Karen Weston

Karen Weston is a graduate of The Swedish Institute for Massage Therapy and Allied Health Sciences in New York City. In 1999 she was licensed by the State of New York and was nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. She is a Professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association, the International Childbirth Education Association and the Maya Abdominal Massage Association.

In the years since she was licensed, Karen has studied many different modalities including Mother Massage with Elaine Stillerman , Bodywork for the Childbearing Cycle and Breast Massage with Susanrachel Condon, Craniosacral Therapy and Lymphatic Drainage with the Upledger Institute, Medical Massage for Cancer Patients at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital, and most recently she was certified in The Arvigo Techniques of Mayan Abdominal Massage. She received her training from Dr. Rosita Arvigo, DN, who developed these techniques after apprenticing for ten years with Don Elijio Panti, the last of the Traditional Maya Shaman in Central America, where she has lived for over 30 years. Karen also received instruction in the ancient art of spiritual baths and healing from Dr. Arvigo. Besides her private practice Karen also works with breast cancer patients in the Massage Therapy Program at Beth Israel Medical Center.

Karen has been a volunteer with the massage therapy program at the Hertzberg Palliative Care Institute, Mount Sinai School of Medicine since 2004. Presently she volunteers her time to hospice patients at Beth Israel Medical Center in the Continuum Hospice Care, Volunteer Services program.
